Number of Dutch corona patients in intensive care continues to fall | NOW

The number of Dutch corona patients in intensive care (IC) continues to decline. There are currently 644 corona patients on IC. That is 39 fewer than Monday, reports the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS) on Tuesday.

According to Ernst Kuipers, chairman of the National Network Acute Care (LNAZ), the continuing decline in ICIs offers space to breathe and resume other care. “That will lead to an increase in the number of non-COVID-19 patients on the ICs in the near future.” On Tuesday it concerns 394 patients.

Of the 644 corona patients on IC, 618 are in the Netherlands. That is 37 fewer than the day before. In Germany, there are now 26 corona patients on the IC due to relocation and a death. That is two less than Monday.

Number of patients within the normal IC capacity

On Monday it became clear that in almost all Dutch regions the number of patients in intensive care is within normal capacity. According to Kuipers, there are “some exceptions”, but patients do not need to be moved to regions with less crowded ICs. There are no more places “where there are concerns”.

In the past 24 hours, two patients have been moved to a different region. The differences in crowds are “acceptable,” according to the LCPS.
