Number of corona patients on ICs continues to decrease, infections below weekly average | Inland

In total, hospitals are currently still treating 1009 corona patients. That means the number could potentially drop below 1,000 in the coming days, and that would be the first time since October 6.

Lowest number since October

With 351 patients in intensive care, the lowest number since October 16, 2020 has been reached. The number of corona patients in the nursing wards dropped by 30 to 658 in the last 24 hours. The total decrease in corona patients is therefore 56. In the past 24 hours, 7 new corona patients have been added to the ICUs, 7 fewer than the day before. 76 new corona patients arrived on nursing wards. That was 13 more than the day before.

“The influx and occupancy in hospitals continue to fall,” said the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS) in a statement. “According to our forecasts, this decline will continue for the foreseeable future.”

The favorable hospital figures come on the day that the Netherlands will open a little further with relaxation of the corona measures. For example, cafes, restaurants and sports canteens are allowed to receive guests and stay open longer, and museums and concert halls are open again.

Infections

A day earlier, the number of infections after adjustment was 2424, where 2440 infections were initially reported. On average, 2441 new corona infections per day were discovered in the past seven days. On Friday, that level was still at 2616.

The number of deaths rose by 9 last 24 hours from 8 a day earlier. That is not to say that all those people have died in the past 24 hours, because it takes a while before the death of a corona patient is registered.
