Number of corona patients in hospitals increased slightly, number of infections increases for the fifth day in a row Inland

The number of patients in intensive care is three more than on Saturday, and there are twelve more people in nursing wards. A total of 462 corona patients are now on ICs in the Netherlands and 1200 in a nursing ward. There are also 13 patients on an IC abroad.

Between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, 17,531 positive tests were registered, well above the average for the past week. The increase was expected because the new omikron variant of the coronavirus has become dominant.

In the past seven days, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) received 101,051 reports of positive tests. On average, this amounts to 14,436 positive tests per day. That average is rising for the fifth day in a row.

1089 positive tests have been registered in Amsterdam. In Rotterdam, 995 residents were told that the corona virus was found in them. This is followed by The Hague (443), Utrecht (397) and Haarlem (280).
