The number of corona patients in Belgian hospitals is still at a very high level, but seems to be gradually stabilizing. The number of deaths is not yet following this trend for the time being. This is evident from the preliminary data from the Sciensano health institute on Friday morning.

The number of people admitted to hospital with Covid-19 is still on the rise. During the past week, an average of 663.1 corona patients were hospitalized daily. That is an increase of 7 percent.
There are currently 7,282 covid patients in the hospital, which corresponds to a very slight decrease of 2 percent. The number of people in intensive care has increased by 1 percent to 1,428.
In the meantime, the decrease in the number of new infections also continues. In the week of October 27 to November 2, an average of 13,213.4 confirmed infections per day were recorded. That is sixteen percent less than a week earlier.
The number of deaths from covid-19 is still increasing, averaging 159.4 per day, or nearly doubling in one week. The coronavirus has already killed 12,520 people in our country since the start of the pandemic.
About 56,200 people are tested every day. The positivity ratio, the number of people who test positive in relation to the total number of tests, is now 27.8 percent. The last known r-value dates from November 4, when it was 1.09. That means that 10 covid patients together infect on average almost 11 people in total. That figure is on a downward trend, although the pandemic will only shrink when the r-value is below 1.
