The number of corporate insolvencies in Salzburg has almost halved compared to the previous year. This is reported by the credit protection association from 1870. This means that there are a tenth fewer bankruptcies than assumed.

According to credit protection agencies, the main reasons are the CoV aids such as deferrals and installment payments. Almost 200 company insolvencies have been recorded in Salzburg this year. That is around 49 percent less than in the previous year, says the head of the credit protection association of 1870 at the Salzburg location, Aliki Bellou.
Despite the sharp drop in the number of company bankruptcies, almost as many employees were affected (600) as in the previous year. That could be due to the industries that have slipped into bankruptcy, Bellou said. These include the hospitality industry, business-related service providers and the construction industry.
Financial wave next year
The credit protector expects a wave of bankruptcies to roll in next spring at the latest. As soon as the financial aid from the federal government, i.e. short-time work, deferrals and the option to pay in installments, expire. Companies could now use this closed time to strategically reposition themselves, otherwise there would be a flood of bankruptcy filings from companies that had nothing left, says Bellou.
Already this year 90 bankruptcy applications were rejected by the regional court because the companies concerned could not even cover the costs of the proceedings.
