Number 1722 activated for risk of storm or flooding

Beautiful songs don’t last long: the sunny weather is already over on Thursday. In return, we may receive so much rain that the government has activated the emergency number 1722. Get that umbrella out again.

The FPS Home Affairs temporarily activates the number 1722 due to the weather forecasts and to avoid inconvenience to the emergency services. Anyone who has suffered storm or water damage that requires assistance from the fire brigade can submit a request via the e-counter www.1722.be or call 1722. 112 may only be called for potentially life-threatening situations.

The RMI has issued code yellow for Thursday afternoon in the east of the country, due to the risk of thunderstorms with a chance of hail and/or a lot of precipitation in a short time. Locally more than 20 mm of rain can fall in an hour. The RMI also points out that the weather situation for Thursday is “complex” so that its forecasts can still be adjusted.
