Nuggets and Monte Morris agree to a 3-year, $ 27 million extension

Denver Nuggets guard Monte Morris has agreed to a three-year, $ 27 million contract extension, his agent, Ron Shade of Octagon, told ESPN Monday night.

Morris, who could have become an unrestricted free agent next summer, is another draft and program development success story from Denver president of basketball operations Tim Connelly and coach Michael Malone.

Morris, 25, averaged 9.6 points and 3.5 assists in 155 games over the past two seasons with the Nuggets, including an excellent 21-minute-per-game average for Denver in his run to the Western Conference finals last postseason.

Morris, the 51st overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft from Iowa State, has become a key part of the Nuggets guard rotation that includes Jamal Murray, Gary Harris and Will Barton.

Morris was a four-year-old college player from Iowa State who spent most of his first NBA season in the G League.
