Nuevo León occupies the third place nationally in cases of infertility after Mexico City and Jalisco, a condition that for years has been declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a disease on the rise, said Víctor Alfonso Batiza, a Monterrey specialist and former president of the Mexican Association of Reproductive Medicine.

In a press conference, the expert commented that today 20 percent of the population of reproductive age suffers from infertility in Mexico, a percentage that is no less than that which led to the construction of medical infrastructure for adequate treatment.

He said that according to a study by Allied Market Research, around 12 thousand 610 million euros were invoiced worldwide in 2018, a figure that will increase in the coming years until doubling in 2026, when turnover is expected to reach more than 25 billion euros. EUR .

In 2020, approximately 12,000 high and low complexity assisted fertility treatments were performed in Mexico, approximately in the clinics of the Mexican Association of Reproductive Medicine.

In Nuevo Leon there are 5 clinics that perform this fertility procedure assisted fertilization, it is estimated that around 2,500 assisted fertilization procedures were performed during 2020.
