Monterrey.- After the attack by an armed group against police officers who were monitoring families traveling to receive the vaccine against Covid-19 in the municipality of Anáhuac, Nuevo León, state authorities temporarily suspended the cross-border vaccination program .
The announcement was made by the secretary general of the government, Javier Navarro, and the resumption of the program will depend on the State Health Secretariat.
“Regarding safety, the Civil Force will continue to give all support to this program to continue, if this is how the Ministry of Health sees it, we are addressing the issue with the Ministry of Health,” he commented. .
On Monday there was a clash between the Civil Forces police and an armed group, which resulted in the death of one element and three injuries.
A convoy of about 50 private vehicles was manned by the state police, whose families with their children were traveling about 200 kilometers from Monterrey to Ponte Colombia for vaccination when the attack occurred.
In recent months this area of Anáhuac has become an area practically dominated by armed groups, and has been the scene of violent clashes, with at least 7 policemen killed and alleged criminals killed in the last few weeks.
