Nudes help women find themselves, Tereza from Davle shows at the exhibition Clients at the Czech Photo Centre

They themselves decided to contact the nude photographer and with her help they try to find their image and define themselves. The new exhibition Clients presents a lesser-known part of the work of Tereza z Davle in the Czech Photo Center gallery. She doesn’t work with models here, her heroines are real women with strong stories.

“As the object of commissioned photography, clients want to pause time, preserve a snapshot, gift their likeness to their partner, and often use photography as a therapeutic medium to work through their relationship with their own body, during pregnancy, after childbirth, after injury, and as a milestone after overcoming trauma or separation. Photography has become a way for women to regain their self, courage and freedom of their bodies,” says the author about the images in her new exhibition.

According to her, the images help the portrait subjects as a tool to understand themselves, to perceive their body and also to realize how others view their body.

The photographer’s stage name comes from the fact that she grew up in Davli near Prague. It is expressed mainly through analog photography. She uses natural lighting and enlarges the images herself from films. He specializes in black and white photography, mainly portraits and nudes.

Tereza z Davle has been exhibiting since 1997. She now lives and works in Prague and Český Krumlov. She has exhibited her work in, for example, Argentina, Paraguay, Austria, the USA, Slovakia and Germany.

The opening of the exhibition Clients will take place at the Czech Photo Center gallery in Prague on December 6. The exhibition will be open to the public from December 7 to January 21, 2024. The gallery is located very close to the Nové Butovice metro station. (More information here: www.czechphoto.org.)
