The nuclear industry in Ukraine is also divided between Russia and the West. Its 17 reactors in operation are all Soviet-type. Here, in fact, in the 1980s, the Kremlin decided to concentrate an important part of its energy production from the atom. Lately, however, Kiev had separated from Moscow for fuel. Now supplies are coming from the American Westinghouse.
