Most of Buenos Aires and several provinces in Argentina were left without electricity due to a fire that affected the Atucha 1 nuclear power plant and high-voltage power lines.
It is reported that the accident occurred yesterday, March 1. It affected about 20 million people, or 40% of the total number of consumers throughout Argentina. The Energy Department said it was investigating the causes of failures, including at the nuclear power plant.
The state company Nucleoelectrica, which is responsible for operating the nuclear power plant, confirmed that it was not working due to “problems with the network.” It is planned to restore the work of the station not earlier than in 48 hours.
