After a first surface navigation last week, the nuclear attack submarine (SNA) Perle conducted Monday, May 22, in front of Toulon, its first dive since 2019. A first static immersion, in particular to check the tightness of the hull and carry out the weighing of the building following the repairs carried out after the fire which devastated its front part in June 2020, while the SNA was in dry dock in Toulon.

The rescue of La Perle, carried out by Naval Group teams, in close collaboration with the Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA) and the French Navy, has as a reminder the need to transfer the building to Cherbourg, where the damaged part was replaced by a section from another submarine of this type, decommissioned in 2019.
