Sales of new light and medium vehicles in the Ñuble Region fell by 24.6% in November, compared to the same month in 2022, according to the National Automotive Association of Chile AG (ANAC), which in its monthly market report automotive, published yesterday, detailed that a total of 358 units were sold in the region.
In this way, Ñuble has 18 consecutive months of negative variations in this indicator.
This is the sixth largest contraction in the country, after those registered in Coquimbo (-31.6%), Los Ríos (-30.6%), Atacama (-29.8%), Los Lagos (-25, 3%) and Maule (-24.7%). The national average, meanwhile, showed a drop of 19.2%, recording a total of 25,630 units sold, completing 16 months of declines.
From the ANAC they explained that “the automotive sector continues to be affected by economic activity that remains weak and with restrictions on access to financing that persist for families and entrepreneurs, which has pushed sales back to levels considered normal.”
“The weakness of the Chilean economy also continues to affect the regions, except Magallanes, which grew 20% and Tarapacá, which registered an increase of 5.1% compared to the same month of November last year,” they stated.
Accumulated sales
The entity detailed that, in the accumulated annual period (January-November 2023), 286,762 new light and medium vehicles have been sold in the country, which reflects a contraction of 27%, compared to the same period in 2022, which was the record year for the automotive industry since records began.
As of November of last year, sales totaled 392,845 units, closing 2022 with a total of 426,777 units.
In that sense, they specified that the figures for the period January – November 2023 are the lowest since the same period in 2020, when they added 230,873 units.
In the Ñuble region, meanwhile, accumulated sales in the first eleven months of the year total 3,849 units, which represents a drop of 41.1% compared to January-November 2022, the largest drop among all regions of the country. and very far from the low national average of 27.0%
In the analysis by vehicle segment, in cumulative terms (January-November 2023), all experienced a drop in the region. Thus, passenger vehicles (sedan, hatchback, coupe), which totaled 725 units, showed a decrease of 47.2%; vans, which totaled 809, fell 46.6%; commercial vehicles, which reached 316 units, decreased by 42.8%; and SUVs, which totaled 1,999 sold and continue to be preferred by buyers in the region, registered a 35.4% contraction.
