The Ñuble Region Basketball Team, represented by Colegio Concepción de Chillán, had a great debut in the National Final of the School Sports Games, after starting with two wins in the group stage. At the close of yesterday’s day he defined O’Higgins as his rival in the next phase and to close as first in the group.
The day started facing a strong rival like Valparaíso, who according to the same chillanejos, was a strong team and it was demonstrated in the match, where they managed to win in the last 30 seconds and thus close the result by 80-76.
In the second match they faced their counterpart from the Coquimbo Region, where they gained more confidence as a team and managed to win by a comfortable 85-60.
With the two results, they managed to remain momentarily in first place in Group D while waiting for their last duel. If you manage to pass first, you will automatically be among the eight best in the country.
“The children prepared a lot to reach this stage, we understand that there are the best 16 schools in the country, where several of them are selected from the category. We came across teams that are national powerhouses like Valparaíso, but we gained a lot of strength by winning that game in the last minutes and that’s when we started to believe the story,” stated coach Guillermo Quezada’s technical assistant, Felipe Arias, who tells with an outstanding career in training local basketball seedbeds.
“With that match they gained a lot of confidence and then against Coquimbo, we managed to win by a large difference, the children have taken seriously the possibility of reaching higher levels, we are taking advantage of all that confidence so that we can inject all our technical and tactical knowledge into them so that they get the most out of it,” he added.
It should be noted that Ñuble has already won gold medals in this new edition of the National Finals of the School Games.
Charlot Pérez managed to take first place in the hammer throw, where he also got a place in the South American under 14 competition that will be held in the month of December.
