Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) figure, Yenny Wahid, officially provides support to the presidential candidate (Capres), Ganjar Pranowo. PBNU called the attitude of the daughter of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur a personal attitude.
“Yes, we respect Ms. Yenny’s choice personally to support Ganjar Mahfud’s partner, not bringing in the NU institution, that is the legal right of every citizen and is permitted according to the provisions of the law,” said PBNU Chairman Ahmad Fahrur Rozi or Gus Fahrur, when contacted, Sunday (29/10/2023).
Gus Fahrur also said that there were other PBNU figures and administrators who supported other candidate pairs, such as Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming.
“I see that there are also other figures from the ranks of the PBNU management who also support Ganjar. Just like there are those who support candidate pair Prabowo and others,” he said.
According to him, until now PBNU has not provided support to any candidate pairs. PBNU respects the political choices of PBNU figures or administrators.
“So far there has been no specific direction from Rais Aam. NU as a religious mass organization is not involved in supporting presidential candidates, we respect the differences in choices of fellow NU members and the Indonesian people,” he said.
Gus Fahrur reminded that if there are NU figures who provide support, do not bring up the name or institution of NU.
“NU residents and figures have the right to choose the best candidate pair according to their conscience, as long as they do not involve and involve NU institutions, NU attributes or institutional facilities such as offices and others,” he said.
Yenny Wahid Supports Ganjar
The daughter of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur, Yenny Wahid, previously officially gave support to presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo and vice presidential candidate Mahfud Md.
Yenny Wahid officially declared his support for Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md at the Borobudur Hotel, Jakarta, Friday (27/10). The Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) figure had a chance to chat with party officials supporting Ganjar-Mahfud.
“We, the Gus Dur Cadre Team, support the pair Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud Md,” said Yenny Wahid.
