Kupang (ANTARA) – The East Nusa Tenggara Department of Health, Population and Civil Registration (DKKPS) reported that the trend of cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in the province was slowly decreasing.
“If we count from January to March, the trend of cases has started to decline,” said Head of the Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Section (P2PM) of the NTT DKKPS Agusthina Rospita in Kupang, Monday (14/3).
He said that in January the cases of dengue fever in NTT reached 937 cases, then in February the cases fell to 612 cases, while as of Monday this case reached 67 cases.
This, according to him, shows a positive thing because the handling of prevention of dengue cases in NTT is going well and public awareness is also starting to improve.
“Death cases due to dengue are also trending downwards. In January there were eight cases, then in February four cases and in March one case was reported,” he said.
Rospita said that if we compare the cases of dengue fever in January 2022 and January 2021, we can see that there are far differences in cases.
In January 2022 cases of DHF in NTT reached 937 cases, while the same period in 2021 cases reached 381 cases.
The highest cases, he said, are in Kupang City with 276 cases, West Manggarai with 248 cases and Sikka District with 198 cases.
He said the districts/cities in NTT that experienced an increase in cases in 2022 when compared to January 2021 were the City of Kupang, South Central Timor, Belu District, East Flores, Lembat, Sikka District, Nagekeo, West Manggarai, West Sumba, and Southwest Sumba.
With the trend of DHF cases continuing to decline, his party appealed to the public to maintain a clean environment so that they are not easily exposed to DHF again.
