  • Border policeman Petar Bachvarov, killed in the Elhovo area by a shooter from Turkish territory, was shot with a smoothbore weapon. This was stated in a briefing by the head of the forensic department of the National Investigative Service (NSI), Daniel Tsonkov, after conducting an experiment at the crime scene, a journalist from Novini.bg

According to him, the purpose of the investigative experiment was to establish the place from which shots were fired, their direction, as well as additional tasks to confirm the originally prepared versions and clues found during the investigation.

The experiment definitively established that the shot caused the death of the border policeman through the fence on the Turkish side. It was near the hole made in the wire fence. Then several more shots were fired at the “Border Police” vehicle, Tsonkov explained, adding that the shot was fired from close range.

According to the data collected against the Bulgarian “Border Police” officer, it was rather a targeted shot, and not a random shooting.

This is what the autopsy of the murdered border policeman Petar Bachvarov showed

Daniel Tsonkov said the murdered policeman was patrolling the border in a car when he noticed an opening in the fence. Then he went down to check and as soon as he got close to the compromised point, the shot was fired from the Turkish side.

The shots were several, with smooth-bore weapons, as the bullets went through the wire mesh. These are fragments of bullets of different sizes, the investigator specified.
