FNV members who work at the NS are not happy with the results of last month’s collective labor agreement negotiations. They are not satisfied with, among other things, agreements on night shifts and the agreed wage increase of 6.6 percent.

“We believe that maintaining purchasing power is extremely important, but the proposed wage increase does not compensate for the backlog that NS employees have suffered due to sky-high inflation,” responds director Henri Janssen of FNV Spoor.

At the beginning of January, the unions and NS reached the collective labor agreement, which was then submitted to the union members. Only 51 percent voted in favor, it now appears. That is such a narrow majority that the union has decided to renegotiate.

Members of the VVMC trade union previously voted against the agreement. That union also wants to renegotiate. For the time being, there does not appear to be any strikes, which were previously threatened.
