NS uses less night and commuter trains

As of Monday, the Dutch Railways will scrap the use of extra commuter trains on certain routes. Night trains for nightlife public on weekends will be discontinued.

Fewer rush-hour trains are used on the Amsterdam Central – Enkhuizen route, for example. The rail operator says it is responding to the declining number of travelers. This week, the government called for public transport to be used only when necessary.

The reduction in the number of trips has another reason. The Dutch Railways hopes to be able to accommodate an increase in the number of sickness reports among its own staff.
