On the route between Driebergen and Maarn, a train driver from the NS was hit by a train last night. The train driver was killed in the process, the NS told the ANP. The accident happened around 7:45 p.m. It is not known what happened prior to the collision.

The train stood still for a long time after the accident. Train passengers were picked up by buses and transported to Driebergen-Zeist station. Passengers had to walk from the track to the hard shoulder of the adjacent A12, where they were picked up by NS buses.
