The conductors of NS International who work on the Intercity Brussels will lay down their work all day next Wednesday. With this they hope, together with the trade unions FNV Spoor and the Trade Union for Driving Personnel (VVMC), to enforce a higher salary.
The strike is planned from the night of Tuesday to Wednesday. There will then be no trains from Amsterdam to Brussels for 24 hours.
The conductors are dissatisfied because they are paid less than their colleagues on the other international trains, including the Eurostar to London and the Nightjet to Vienna. For example, they receive a lower allowance for extra knowledge of foreign laws and regulations. Negotiations with NS International and the trade unions, which were started in 2018, have come to nothing.
According to FNV Spoor, conductors of NS International have a “demanding range of tasks”, but this is not reflected on their pay slips. He also says that there is no difference in pay for drivers of different international trains and that this makes conductors “extra angry”.
