A chat on the Internet in which a few nice words are exchanged and then the subsequent meeting – dating via Internet platforms is nothing new these days. On July 21st of this year, a man wanted to meet a woman he met via the messenger service Snapchat. The man traveled a long distance by train from Bavaria to the agreed meeting point in Cologne. But then everything turned out differently than expected.

His date sent the man her location via Snapchat. They wanted to meet on Kendenicher Strasse in Cologne at around 8 p.m. When the man finally arrived at the meeting point, he did not meet “Emily Rugerth”, but rather three unknown suspects. First, one of the men came up to the Allgäu man and pulled out a handgun with which he is said to have fired into the air. The other two suspects then arrived and pulled out a Taser with which they threatened the man. According to the police, all three unknown people hit and kicked the victim.

The suspects are said to have demanded that the man hand over his fanny pack, including cash and debit card. The poor man gave away the PIN on his debit card, which allowed the three men to make cash withdrawals from several ATMs. They left the Allgäu native injured on the ground.

Police are still looking for suspects
The search for the three suspects is still ongoing. The incident occurred on July 21st (Sunday) at around 8 p.m. on Kendenicher Straße in Cologne- Zollstock. The police are asking witnesses to come forward and/or provide the whereabouts of the suspects they are looking for.
