NRK profile exposed to serious violence – the perpetrator can not be punished – NRK Norway – Overview of news from different parts of the country

The NRK employee in his 40s suffered a fracture in the left cheekbone that had to be fixed with a titanium plate, as well as damage to the emotional nerve to the middle face, it appears from the indictment. The attack took place on the evening of January 24 outside the NRK complex at Marienlyst west of Oslo.

The man who perpetrated the violence, a fairly well-known artist, is also accused of having made several threatening statements against the NRK profile on his Instagram account after the episode of violence.

The man’s defense counsel, lawyer Ida Andenæs, has not responded to NTB’s inquiries and therefore has not said anything about how her client views the question of guilt and the circumstances described in the indictment.

Declared erratic

When the case comes up in Oslo District Court on Tuesday, public prosecutor Andreas Strand will already initially announce that he will file a claim for a sentence on transfer to compulsory mental health care.

– The background is that the experts have concluded that he was insane when these things happened, Strand says to NTB and refers to both the violence and the later threats.

Lawyer Andenæs has also not responded to how the accused views the statement that he was criminally insane at the time of the crime.

No close relationship

The accused and the offended knew each other from before, but there should have been no close relationship between them. Strand does not want to go into what the prosecution believes was the motive for the acts of violence before the case comes up in court.

However, it will be a topic whether the attack can be linked to the NRK employee’s role and professional practice as an editorial staff member, but Strand will not go into this aspect now.

The NRK profile wants as little attention as possible around the case. Assistance lawyer Mathias Gebremichael therefore does not want to give any comments to NTB in connection with the main hearing

Exposed several times

The plan was that the case against the man would not be settled until September last year, but then the case was postponed due to the corona pandemic.

The case was later scheduled for January this year, but then it was postponed due to the forensic psychiatric assessment.

The planned main hearing on 17 August was also postponed by what defender Ida Andenæs, according to TV 2, called corona-related reasons.

This time, there is nothing to indicate a new postponement, Strand assures.

The court has set aside two days for the case.
