– For more than 60 years, Sportsrevyen has meant a great deal to NRK and a large part of the Norwegian population, says NRK sports editor Espen Olsen Langfeldt.
– We are very proud of the history of the program and all that we have contributed to creating unforgettable sporting moments over the course of several decades, adds the sports editor.
Historical
The sports program has been shown on the TV screen every week since 1960 and is a summary of what has been happening on the sports front, mainly in Norway.
The program is broadcast on Sunday evenings on NRK1 and is usually around half an hour long.
The sports review is one of the oldest existing TV programs on NRK.
The first broadcast, which aired on 18 September 1960, had Jarle Høysæter and Oddvar Foss as presenters.
Since then, several well-known names have spearheaded the history program. These include Arne Scheie, Per Ståle Lønning, Karen-Marie Ellefsen, Dag Erik Pedersen and Ida Nysæter Rasch.
– With a heavy heart
Espen Olsen Langfeldt says that due to a tighter financial framework, NRK is forced to make cuts across all divisions and in the content space.
– Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that we decided to close the sports magazine, he says.
The sports publisher however assures that the good content of Sports Review will live on.
– We will continue to tell the good stories, show the breadth and be passionately present on all platforms – on TV, radio and online, he says.
