The NPO is prepared to see to what extent the severely affected cultural sector can be helped. A spokesman tells this on Sunday afternoon ANP, in response to the call of composer Stephen Emmer.
On Sunday morning, Emmer called on the NPO, on behalf of hundreds of artists, to support them more in these difficult times. The Buma winner would like to see the public broadcaster offering artists a temporary platform, so that they still have a medium to publish their work on. Emmer argues that the government’s current Delta Plan is not sufficient enough to keep the arts sector afloat.
“Art and culture have traditionally been very important pillars of the total offer of the public broadcaster and will always remain so,” said a spokesman for the NPO.
The public broadcaster is already doing a lot for the art sector. “Even in these difficult times, we therefore bring a very varied offer from the world of the arts on all our channels, both on linear TV and radio stations, but also via our online platforms. On our digital channel NPO 2 Extra we even do this 24 hours a day. “
Nevertheless, the NPO is willing to see whether additional measures can be taken. The spokesperson labels Emmer’s plan as “sympathetic” and says the NPO will think about it.
