Selling a used car doesn’t have to be that complicated. It just needs to be in decent condition, a good price and can easily be gone in a few days. And it doesn’t matter if it’s placed in a bazaar or sold through a private ad. But a problem can arise if the car has a diesel engine under the hood. How come?
High price of diesel
Just look at the prices at gas stations and it’s clear that diesel cars aren’t exactly popular these days. Diesel prices have risen significantly and at the moment the price per liter of diesel is significantly more expensive than petrol. Many people are understandably concerned about how the price will develop further. And so they prefer to go safely, in a used car with a gasoline engine, where the prices are more acceptable.
Ecological trends
Many people are also concerned about diesel cars because they may not be as compatible with current ecological trends in the future. Due to the push of electromobility, it may very soon become the case that diesel cars become inadequate. There is already talk of a ban on combustion engines, and this could be linked to various bans on the entry of non-ecological diesel cars.
High raids
Car manufacturers are gradually changing their offering and diesel cars are starting to disappear. Some brands don’t even have diesel engines in their portfolios anymore. It is therefore clear that the owner of a diesel car will literally want to use it until the last moment. Later, however, his used car will have significant mileage. It can become a risk to the buyer and the car becomes unsaleable at that moment.
Unwanted improvements
The problem mainly affects more modern diesel cars. They already bring various improvements. Let’s skip the start-stop system, which today is also found in gasoline vehicles. What only a diesel car has, for example, is a solid particulate filter, and with it comes the obligation to top up with AdBlue. These are also the reasons why people prefer to reach for gasoline, as there are not so many complications.
