(Elbil24): Elbil24 recently tested the sporty SUV Volvo C40 in competition with the Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback. Here, C40 received praise for fantastically good seats, fast acceleration and a lot of power.
The electric car is new in a market where it will compete against the aforementioned Q4 e-tron Sportback and popular SUVs such as the Tesla Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach-E.
The C40 has been on the market for only a few months, but now Volvo chooses to come up with five different equipment variants of the model.

Do as others do
Until now, Volvo has only offered the C40 with the highest level of equipment and four-wheel drive, but now you can choose between five different versions and price ranges.
Including a significantly cheaper version: Volvo C40 Recharge Core.
– With the new variant, we make the C40 Recharge available in a new price range, says PR and communications manager Erik Trosby in Volvo Car Norway in a press release.
The fact that car manufacturers offer a cheaper version of existing models is nothing new. Polestar 2 did the same almost six months ago. Previously also has Hyundai Kona and Jaguar I-Pace received significantly cheaper versions.

In comparison, you have to pay at least NOK 558,900 for the top model with the highest equipment level: Recharge Twin Ultimate with four-wheel drive. It is the latter model Elbil24 previously has tested.
– The C40 is delivered in several equipment levels, at favorable prices and with both service and insurance included, says Trosby.

The main differences
One of the first things we notice with the new versions of the Volvo C40 is that the roof spoiler and the roof line that frames the large panoramic roof from the A- to C-pillars have been given the same color as the body.
This was previously black. With the same color on the body and roof spoiler, the car gets a more holistic look in terms of color.
In the interior, the car can now be ordered with seats with wool upholstery.
The battery in the new Vovlo C40 Core is 69kWh (67 kWh net) and has an estimated range of 431 kilometers according to the WLTP standard. This means that the car has a range of ten kilometers shorter than the top model with a 78 kWh battery (75 kWh net).
The new, most affordable version of the C40 delivers 231 horsepower and 330 Nm. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent capacity of approx. 32 minutes with lightning charger and allows maximum available charging power of 150 kW.
If you want a trailer hitch on the C40 Core, it can be ordered. Then you get a maximum allowed trailer weight of 1500 kilos – against 1800 kilos on the top model.
Both C40 variants are approved for roof loads up to 75 kg and can have a roof rack and ski box.

Full hull insurance
If you do not want to buy the C40, but still want the car, Volvo also offers that you can subscribe to it.
Then the price starts at 6290 kroner per month for the C40 Core and 6990 kroner for the top model C40 Twin Ultimate.
Whether you buy or rent, you get three years of service and three years of full hull insurance included.
The same applies to roadside assistance, replacement of wipers (once a year) and replacement of brake discs / pads when worn.
– With many of the most central services included in the price, there are fewer worries for the customer and you get lower operating costs, says Trosby.
