Now Sony is no longer losing PlayStation 5 sales

In a recent news, Sony’s chief financial officer, Hiroki Totoki said Sony was no longer losing sales of the PlayStation 5.

In early 2021 it was reported that Sony had to sacrifice their revenue when selling the PlayStation 5. Because, the price of USD499 (approximately Rp. 7.2 million) offered by Sony was called a losing sale price.

However, recently there is a news that is quite surprising. Sony’s head of finance, Hiroki Totoki, said the selling price of the PlayStation 5, which was previously considered a loss, had turned into a profit.

This is because the company no longer suffers losses when producing the console. Unfortunately, for the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, Sony says they still feel a loss at the price offered. However, this can be offset by sales of PlayStation 4 accessories.

In addition, they also said they had sold 500,000 PlayStation 4 consoles in the last quarter. This means, they have sold a total of 116.4 million consoles, which is an impressive number.

Talking about PlayStation 5 sales, they have now announced that they have sold a total of 10 million consoles worldwide, as reported The Verge (5/8). They still have a long way to go to beat their previous console sales record.

However, they are optimistic that sales of the PlayStation 5 console will experience good growth. In addition, they also hope that the price of the components for the console will drop so that they will no longer suffer losses.
