Now it’s official: Playstation buys remake studio Bluepoint Games

Who actually works on “own content” rather than another remake.

It’s not exactly a flash from clear blue skies, but now Sony has finally announced that they acquired the game developer Bluepoint Games. It does not come as a surprise because Playstation Japan happened welcome Bluepoint to the Playstation family in a tweet back in June, when in fact it was Finnish Housemarque they would welcome.

But now it’s official, and even though Bluepoint has mainly become known for its incredible remakes of games like Shadow of the Colossus and Demon’s Souls, they say IGN that they are currently working on “own content” (original content). It can of course be a number of different things, from a completely own game to new content to an existing game, so we simply have to stick to it.

Bluepoint’s CEO Marco Thrush says that the future looks very bright and that the acquisition means that they will have access to lots of support from Sony, so that they can remain a relatively small studio and maintain their corporate culture.
