Now it’s getting slippery

– We can make warnings to make people aware that there may be snow in places where there has not been as much snow yet this year, says state meteorologist Marit Berger at the Meteorological Institute.

This applies to northern Norway in the next few days, but it can also be cold in some places further south this weekend, if the forecasts of cold weather hold. Then it can snow.

Wintery in the north

Northern Norway will have low pressure, more wind and precipitation this weekend.

– It is getting cooler in northern Norway now. During the weekend and maybe next week, there will be more winter conditions, says the meteorologist. She adds that it is difficult to say exactly how low the snow line will go.

– But it’s okay to have switched to winter tires, she reminds those who still have not done so.

The low pressure will be outside Lofoten. It brings precipitation, wind and cool air. It will be lower temperatures and cooler over the weekend on the west side of the country. This applies both to the north from Stad, but also a distance south that does not completely escape.

High pressure in the south

This week, Trøndelag will have onshore winds with more clouds and opportunities for rain showers, especially in the outer areas. They do not benefit from the high pressure that covers parts of southern Norway.

– But the temperatures will not be quite as low as in northern Norway. They are well placed on the plus side. Night frost will not be a problem. Clouds are also expected at night to start with between 6 and 7 degrees, says Berger.

Many parts of southern Norway have had very nice weather for several days. This will continue for a while further, but it will weaken by the weekend and inwards next week.

– There is a high pressure out in the Atlantic Ocean, west of the country. There may be a change after the weekend with a change in the weather. Precipitation will first occur in Sørlandet, while in Østlandet it will be a bit longer and here the good weather will last the longest, says the meteorologist.
