Now in Norway – Will cover 1000 kilometers

During the Nordic EV Summit this week, the Nio ET7 was shown for the first time in Europe.

It is now in place at Nio House in Oslo, the first dealer for the new Chinese car brand. There you can see the car, but it is not yet decided when the sale will start in Norway. Nor what the car will cost. So far, it is only for sale in the home country of China.

Range: 1000 kilometers

– Let us in Norway host the European premiere of this eye-catching electric car underlines Nio’s goal that the brand will be a success in this country, says Nios Norway CEO Marius Hayler.

Nine ET7 is an electric sedan over five meters, which has received a lot of attention because it has a range of up to 1000 kilometers, according to Chinese figures. It has also received attention because it has the ability to change the battery in a few minutes, instead of charging.

Tesla competitor

Here at home, the Nio ET7 so far has only two main competitors: the Tesla Model S, which will arrive in a new edition in Norway in a year’s time, and the Mercedes-Benz EQS, which arrives before Christmas. This means that we can expect a price approaching one million kroner for the largest edition of the Nio ET7.

The standard versions get batteries of 70 and 100 kWt and are a good deal cheaper. The version with a battery of 150 kWt, which will give the range of around 1,000 kilometers, will not be on the market until a year from now. The range will probably be a bit shorter in the more stringent European WLTP test.

Self-propelled

ET7 has two engines – one front and one rear – of a total of 652 horsepower. Maximum torque is stated at 850 newton meters, and 0-100 kilometers per hour should take 3.9 seconds.

According to Nio boss William Li, the car has equipment to make it almost self-driving.

It has a total of 33 different sensors – including 11 high-resolution cameras, a long-range high-resolution LiDAR, five wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors and two high-precision positioning devices. This will mean that the car will eventually be able to handle most tasks itself – everything from driving on motorways to parking spaces.

Change battery

Nio is now building up a separate network of fast chargers and stations where owners can have their cars replaced with batteries.

– During the year, four stations will be built in the Oslo area where you can drive by to have a fully charged battery replaced in just four minutes, says Marius Hayler.

– Next year, such stations will also be built in Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim and Kristiansand – around the same time as Nio dealers open in these cities.
