Aware that he suffers from irreversible cancer, on ‘¡De Viernes!’ he wanted to give his most sincere and revealing interview last night because he has made the decision not to speak to the media anymore. “I don’t know how much time I have left but I’m not going to give any more interviews, this is the last one,” he said on the program Saints Acosta y Beatriz Archidona whose appearance was pre-recorded and together with his wife Mayte Zaldivar.

With the expression “I am afraid of dying”, Julián expresses that although his life has been characterized by ups and downs and controversies, right now he is “absolutely happy” with his family and Zaldívar, whom he married for the second time in January and who has become his great support in these difficult times he is going through. “He knows he is going to die. He is very clear about it, he talks about it and says what he feels and wants. Lung tumor

In a clear way, Muñoz wanted to explain what the process has been that he has gone through with his illness since he was diagnosed until now. “I knew I had a tumor because I have been a smoker for 60 years. The tumor was detected because I fell, fell again and broke the 4th lumbar vertebra. From there, they did X-rays and several tests, and a lung tumor was detected. It was detected in January with an expiration date, but we don’t know what it was,” acknowledged the former mayor, who has undergone several treatments to fight cancer. “Since January, with two broken vertebrae, they have given me morphine and it has been terrible. I had a very bad time with the chemo and now I take 20 pills a day. I have had two or three heart attacks, a stroke, and the sugar has left me without sight in one eye… I am screwed, but in essence, I am happy,” said Julián through tears during his appearance on the Telecinco program.

«In this precarious situation when you feel loved, you don’t give a damn about the world. The family stood together when I fell. I didn’t know half of what was happening, but when I had a moment, everyone was there and that, for me, is the best end of my life», continued Muñoz speaking about the support he has and had during his hospitalizations, among which is Mayte, who was in charge of sadly updating her husband’s health status live. «He is on a downward spiral.
