The Omikron variant is spreading more and more in Austria. Now there is the first confirmed case of the new mutation at a Viennese school.
As the “Kronen Zeitung” reported on Tuesday evening, the first Omikron case at a school in Vienna’s Josefstadt in the 8th district has been officially confirmed. A high school student is said to have tested positive for Omikron on Wednesday (December 8th) last week.
However, the student was only informed this week that he was infected with the new mutation of the corona virus, according to the report. According to “Krone”, the two neighbors of the high school student are also positive. Now it is carefully examined whether they are also infected with the Omicron variant.
The class of the infected student was previously in distance learning, now all classmates have to be in a 14-day quarantine, reports the “Kronen Zeitung”. In plain language: the class will also be in isolation over Christmas.
