The political party AhoraGuía, through its councilor in the Guiense city council, wanted to convey to the citizens of its municipality its deep regret over the old political practices of Mayor Guía. “Pedro Rodríguez continues in the same line, that of being the Mayor of his works,” said José Manuel Santana.

Santana’s statements were made after an extraordinary plenary session was held this Monday, where it was confirmed that Pedro Rodríguez and his government partners have approved the largest mortgage in the history of the municipality of Santa María de Guía that goes to pay its citizens for many years, without the neighbors having been allowed to participate in this decision. First, because the government group has ratified the agreement to approve and award the concession of the water supply service for 120 million euros for a 40-year contract and, second, because they have decided to contract a loan with two banking entities for 6 million of euros, to which 1.7 million euros in interest will have to be added.

It must be remembered, as AhoraGuía reported at the time, that a file for contracting a mortgage loan for 15 million euros for the investment plan was put out to tender, and that this has been left void, so Rodríguez has now been able to Negotiate directly with banks.

We do not know, given the lack of transparency and information, if the Mayor plans to continue with loan requests until that figure is reached, or if it has remained “a wish of Pedro Rodríguez, a wish I want and I cannot”, in the words of Pedro Rodríguez. from Santana. This fact would bring to light a situation that is beginning to be worrying, since the fact that this tender has been deserted could be the signs and the sign of the beginning of a bad financial situation and budgetary stability of the city council, dismissing the entities banking conditions initially planned, he argued.

Furthermore, he explained, that the position of his party is not related to why we believe that these investments are not necessary, what happens is that we do not know if those proposed are the priority to follow, since, as we all know, the City Council does not have an action plan in which the Guiense society, neighborhood associations, sports groups, business community, public transport professionals, cultural entities and general citizens have participated in its preparation.

Also, we want to clarify to the people of Guiense that the really difficult thing is to manage to bring extra money to our municipality and to invest it with consensus, wherever the neighbors say. And what is really easy is to act as Pedro Rodríguez does, that is, “shoot with other people’s gunpowder, proposing those investments that he considers will give him greater political returns by 2027” and that it is the population who pays for it in the elections. coming decades.

From AhoraGuía, we insist that we do not totally disagree with some of the investments proposed in the upcoming programs. But perhaps, and we say perhaps because it has not been done, if the citizens of Guiense had been asked, they, perhaps, would have prioritized renewing the water supply network with money from the city council so as not to pay for it in the bill that suits them. to arrive at your house once the contract with the new concessionaire company is formalized. Or, complete the entire sanitation network in the neighborhoods and areas that still lack it, or better yet, definitively resolve the shameful problem we have with garbage collection in our municipality, Santana argued.

It is sad that, today, we continue to talk about the shortcomings and deficiencies in garbage collection and other basic services that should already be solved. Above all, when the government team boasts about so many million-dollar plans that have been executed in our municipality and, in the end, what they propose to solve these historical problems is that the neighbors are the ones who pay for the mismanagement of these services “through the receipts to see if they don’t find out and it goes unnoticed how much it is going to cost in total for all of us,” the AhoraGuía councilor continued explaining.

Because, AhoraGuía wants to clarify, that when the Mayor talks about investments with “own funds”, they are those that only the locals pay. And when it refers to funds from the “PCA” and “50% of the FDCAN” they are money from other administrations that corresponds to our municipality that are distributed in a fixed part and another variable part by population, “which are assigned to the Government Guide who governs in those institutions,” Santana explained.
