Late Monday, Activision unveiled an add-on to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s fourth season. A load of new content rolls out on the morning of June 30, with news for both the multiplayer part and the battle royale mode Warzone.
The publisher warns that the download will be at 22-36 GB for Modern Warfare owners and 22-30 GB for those who only have the standalone Warzone release. However, with the download completed, the overall size of the game will be smaller than before.
200 players on the battlefield
Among the biggest innovations is a new Warzone variant with 200 players, up from the game’s usual 150. Rumors of the extra-large battles emerged even before the launch of Warzone, but they only came now – and for now only in the form of a temporary mode .
Of other content, Warzone introduces new Supply Run missions, binoculars and more weapons to the Gulag fighting. Players should also note the many balance changes to the game’s weapons, including reduced effectiveness for the hugely popular Grau rifle.
Weapon changes also apply to Modern Warfare’s standard multiplayer mode. This one gets a new map – Cheshire Park – and a new mode – Team Defender – as well as a new pool of playlist options.
Warzone must live side by side with future Call of Duty games.
