Secret documents were found in the home of former US Vice President Mike Pence in the state of Indiana. Pence himself reported the find, American media write.
It would be about ten pieces. Pence turned them over to the FBI.
The find was made by a lawyer Pence hired specifically to search several boxes of documents for potentially classified items. Pence did so because of the recent finds of classified documents with former President Trump and President Biden, according to a letter from Pence’s lawyer to the National Archives.
Nuclear secrets
Pence was vice president under Donald Trump, whom the FBI found about 300 secret files during raids. The Justice Department is investigating this case. They may contain files nuclear secrets.
In recent weeks, secret documents also appeared to be in the home and the office from President Biden. In this case it is not known exactly how many pieces are involved and what they are about.
Under U.S. law, records of the President or Vice President must be turned over to the U.S. National Archives after their term of office. Both Biden and Pence immediately reported that they had the pieces in their possession and handed them over.
Former President Trump opposed the transfer to the archive. A search warrant was eventually required to enter Trump’s estate.
