Last Thursday was released Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition, which is a remaster of the incredibly popular adventure game from Westwood. Unfortunately, it seems problematic the development have left their mark, because the fans are absolutely not happy with the result. On Steam, the rating is “Mostly negative”, and those who have tested the game complain about new boring menus, bugs that are not in the original game and scaled-up intermediate sequences that have lost some details.
Many say that the original game is better, and that is probably why Nightdive has now chosen to include the classic version on both Steam and GOG – when you start Enhanced Edition, you have to choose which version you want to play. There is also a second variant of the classic version, where some unused content has been restored. Both the classic versions are powered by Scummvm, which in rough words is a program that makes it possible to play some older games on modern machines.
At the same time lovar Nightdive that they are working full time on the first patch for the game, but the question is whether the project can be polished to the point that the fans will be happy with what has been done with this adventure gem.
