Exciting statistics and infographics on population, economy and much more, again in 2024 in the form of 23 district brochures
More than 2 million people with 182 different nationalities live in Vienna – making the Danube metropolis the fifth largest city in the EU. For every 100 Viennese men, there are 104 women. In addition to such “hard data” on the population, the urban area and more, the newly published brochure “Vienna in Figures 2024” also tells you that more cucumbers and aubergines are harvested in Austria’s capital than in all eight other federal states combined, that Vienna has the lowest car density of all state capitals and federal states and that, in addition to over 57,000 dogs and 250 sheep, around 9,500 ground squirrels roam the urban jungle. “Vienna in Figures” is published in German and English and comprises ten chapters on 24 pages.
City Councillor for Economic Affairs Peter Hanke: “‘Vienna in Figures’ has been showing for many years how our city’s population and economy are developing – especially our research location, which is one of the best in Europe. The newly published 23 district brochures bring Viennese people closer to interesting and curious details about their neighborhood.” The data and illustrations contained illustrate commonalities, but also the urban diversity. The area of Donaustadt is 93 times larger than that of Josefstadt, and the average age in the inner city is 47 years, eight years higher than that of the youngest district, Simmering. The district folders consist of ten pages, divided into six chapters, and are available in German.
In addition, the publications on the business and research location have also been updated. 31% of national R&D expenditure is made in Vienna; a quarter of Austria’s gross domestic product is generated in the federal capital, where a fifth of the Austrian population lives. The brochures “Business Location 2024” and “Research and Development 2024” provide information on this and other data in a total of 48 infographics in five and three chapters respectively and are available in German and English.
