Despite Sergei Bubka setting 35 world records and dominating pole vault for 15 years, he only managed to win an Olympic gold. It was in Seoul 1988.
The World Cup titles became all the more. Bubka won six times in a row from 1983 to 1997.
Armand Duplantis has already jumped higher than Bubka and with the title in Tokyo he equalized in the number of Olympic golds. Given Mondo’s superiority, it is not impossible that one day he will catch up with the Ukrainian in his seven global titles.

Bubka was 32 years old when he was to participate in the Olympics in Atlanta, but he never came to the start due to a foot injury. He also missed the 1988 Los Angeles Olympics due to the Eastern State boycott. Duplantis turns 22 in November. If he has the will and nothing unforeseen happens, he can compete in at least three more Olympics: Paris 2024, Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032, where he will be 32 years old.
Getting up to as many World Cup titles as Bubka can be tough, especially as Mondo had to settle for silver in Doha in 2019, but if he continues until 2032, he can at least jump six more World Cups. The 2021 championship in American Eugene has been postponed until 2022 due to the fact that it would not clash with the Olympics. The 2023 World Cup will be decided in Budapest, Hungary, while the host city 2025 has not been decided. Kenya and Australia have been mentioned as possible organizers. After that, if nothing unforeseen happens, three more World Cups will take place before 2032.
In addition, there are a large number of European Championships. The next will be decided in Munich in August 2022, the month after the World Cup.

After the World Cup in Doha Armand Duplantis has broken a world record and been in a class of his own. Of course, it is not certain that this will remain the case. The 17-year-old, who is the son of the old Russian big jumper Konstantin Volkov but who now competes for Belarus, has set several youth world records and surpassed Duplantis at the same age.
