Last December, Business France organized, under the aegis of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Recovery, the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion and Relations with local authorities, the 2nd edition of the Choose France Awards, special “Territories”. On this occasion, the Chartreuse site of the Danish laboratory Novo Nordisk obtained the ecological transition prize for its strong commitment in this area.

Business France is the national agency serving the internationalization of the French economy. She is responsible for the international development of companies and their exports, as well as for prospecting and welcoming international investments in France. In 2020, it chose to honor five international investors who have chosen France to set up there and the French territories that have hosted them. Among them, the Novo Nordisk laboratory, world leader in the treatment of diabetes, strongly anchored in France for more than sixty years. Novo Nordisk produces insulin for more than 8 million patients in eighty-five countries at its Chartres site.

The site was chosen from among 50 foreign applications
Our actions will reduce our carbon footprint by 8,500 tonnes. This is part of a long-term policy of our group which works on reducing the consumption of water, electricity and gas. We are replacing conventional energies with green energies thanks to contracts with suppliers who guarantee this energy in addition to the development of biomass and wood in a nearby environment without deforestation. There is a small residue of fossil gas that we will replace with biogas. We will be able to achieve this objective from 2023 in Chartres, ”says Arnaud Dudermel, in charge of external relations for the Novo Nordisk site.
