Authorities from the Ministry of Health (Sesal) confirmed that this month of November there continues to be a significant reduction in COVID-19 infections and they only report one patient hospitalized for the disease.
According to Health, in the last six weeks no deaths have been reported, and the epidemiological situation continues to be controlled.
On October 31, the head of the Surveillance Unit of the Sesal, Lorenzo Pavón, explained that “the impact is measured by an impact on the deceased”, in that sense, “the COVID-19 situation is controlled.”
On the other hand, the Health authorities detailed the decrease is due to the fact that “whether naturally, because the person already became ill or because the vaccine was applied, they have been acquiring immunity (lasts more or less 6 months).”
However, since “the virus is here to stay,” they recommended maintaining biosafety measures to avoid contagion.
Influencing factors, according to Health, are that some people still protect themselves by using biosafety measures such as the use of a mask and frequent hand washing.
In addition, the Expanded Immunization Program (EPI) continues, which uses a sustained campaign in which the population is invited to go to health facilities to apply the bivalent vaccine.
