November Events in Latvia: Theater Productions, Legendary Opera, and Music Performances

Theater productions and legendary opera, Latin American temperament and jazz, academic music performed by a symphony orchestra and choral music – all this will be enjoyed in November at the events organized by SIA “Kurzemes Philharmonia” in the “Jūras vārti” theater and in the “Latvija” concert hall.

on November 1 at Cuban cellist and singer Ana Karla Maza will perform at the “Latvija” concert hall at 7 p.m., combining the colors of jazz, classical music and Latin American sounds. Ana Karla Maza is performing in many European concert halls and clubs during the tour of the album “Caribe”, released in October, but the concert in Ventspils will be the artist’s first performance in Latvia after a long break.

on November 9 at Valmiera Drama Theater invites you to the production of “I’m not a pianist” directed by Varas Braslas and playwright Alvjas Lapiņš at the “Jūras vārti” theater house at 19.00. It is the story of the conflict between the creator of the symphonic piece “Melancholic Waltz” Emīls Dārziņš and the conductor, singing teacher Pāvuls Jurjānas. Both were good colleagues and like-minded people, dreamed of founding a Latvian opera, but unexpectedly became irreconcilable opponents. What was the basis of this conflict?

The very next day – on November 10 at 19.00 – the 80th birthday of Ventspils-born composer Imantas Ramiņš will be grandly celebrated in the “Latvija” concert hall.
