The unions had initially decided to strike on Thursday, November 9, but decided on Wednesday to continue the strike until Tuesday, November 14. Today, the disruption to services was “very significant”, according to De Lijn.
It is not clear how great the impact the coming strike days will have on services. According to De Lijn, the inconvenience for bus and tram travelers appears to be rather limited this weekend.
On Saturday and Sunday, the strike appears to be particularly noticeable on bus services in the Westhoek and the Bruges region. There appears to be little impact this weekend on the coastal tram and other bus transport on the coast and in the Kortrijk and Geluwe regions. It is expected that two in ten buses will not run in the Westhoek and Bruges region.
The same scenario seems to be repeating itself in the Westhoek on Monday and Tuesday. With other bus traffic on the coast, in Bruges and Kortrijk and on the coastal tram, one in ten journeys will probably not be carried out on Monday. On Tuesday, the disruption should normally decrease further, causing minimal disruption to the coastal tram and bus traffic on the coast.
