According to the editor of the fairy tale project Ilona Jahimoviča, the evening fairy tales in Russian have long been a cherished dream of the entire Latvian Radio 4 team, which has finally come true. “We are really pleased that in the future the youngest listeners of our radio station will be able to go to peace by listening to fairy tales in Russian. We will play fairy tales created by Latvian authors and spoken by well-known artists, which will be an adventure for both children and their parents, ”says Ilona Jahimoviča.

As early as December 20 at 20.05 Anna Saxe’s “Tales of Flowers” will be performed, and this time in a brand new translation by Anna Gogel. On December 20, the legendary readings will begin with the actors of Mikhail Chekhov’s Riga Russian Theater, Anatoly Fechin and Tatjana Lukashenkov. In January, we will hear the work “Winter’s Tale” by the outstanding Latvian author Margarita Stāraste. The fairy tales will be performed by many popular Latvian actors – Ekaterina Frolova, Natalija Ščeglova, Jakovs Rafalsons, Vadims Grosmans, Veronika Plotņikova, Jurijs Kušpelo and others. “We are really pleased that the works of outstanding Latvian authors will now also be available in a high-quality audio version in Russian. Next year we plan to record many more great fairy tales, which, in our opinion, each of us needs at this time – as a reminder that in life, just like in fairy tales, everything will be fine in the end, ”said Māra Eglīte, the director of Radioteātris.

Tales on Latvian Radio 4 – The Dome Square will be broadcast from December 20 every working day at 20.05. Fairy tales will be heard not only on radio waves, but also on the website of Latvijas Radio 4 and on all the most popular streaming platforms.
