Dennis Novak just missed his first appearance in a tennis tournament of the Masters 1000 series. The Lower Austrian lost the decisive qualifying game of the competition, which was moved from Cincinnati to New York, against the Slovenian Aljaz Bedene 6: 4.3: 6.4: 6 on Friday. This means that Dominic Thiem, seeded number two, is the only Austrian in the 4.674 million dollar tournament.
In the decision set, Novak (ATP number 85) made against the world number 61. initially a 0: 2 deficit thanks to a rebreak to 1: 2. But as a result, the 26-year-old had several problems with his own service and had to accept the decisive loss of serve to 4: 6 after just under two hours.
