Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic will be allowed to play in this year’s US Open Championship after the US announced that the Covid-19 vaccination requirement for immigrants will be lifted.

The world leader has not been vaccinated against Covid-19 and was previously not allowed to enter the United States.
The US health policy will change on May 12, which means that the Serbian, who has won 22 Grand Slam tournaments, will return to the courts of Flushing Meadows in August.
It has already been reported that after May 11, the USA will cancel the requirement that incoming air passengers must be vaccinated against Covid-19.
These requirements were introduced in November 2021.
The 35-year-old Djokovic missed both the Australian Open and US Open tournaments in 2022 due to his vaccination status.
The Serb last requested special permission to play in the US last month for the Indian Wells and Miami tournaments, but was denied permission.
Vaccination against Covid-19 is no longer required in Australia either, and Djokovic participated in the Australian Open in January this year, winning his last Grand Slam title there.
Djokovic has won the US Open Championship in 2011, 2015 and 2018.
