BELEHRAD – Serbian tennis players will compete in the Davis Cup qualification duel at home against Slovakia without Novak Djokovic.

According to the portal of the daily Blic, the leader of the world ranking has problems with his hand, so he will miss the fight on clay in Kraljevo.

The captain of the Serbian team, Viktor Troicki, nominated five players Laslo Djere, Dušan Lajović, Miomir Kecmanović, Hamad Medjedović and Nikola Čačič for the meeting, which will be played on February 2 and 3 in the Ibar sports hall. The head of the Slovak team, Tibor Tóth, will announce his nomination on Friday, January 5.

The winner of the meeting advances to the group stage of the final tournament in September. This year’s finalists Italy with Australia and Spain with Great Britain already have some participation in it as holders of free cards. In February, the Slovaks lost 0:4 in the qualification in Dutch Groningen. In September, they won 3:1 in Athens over home team Greece with Stefanos Tsitsipas.
