The top winner of Grand Slam tournaments will participate in this modality together with his compatriot Nikola Cacicformer No. 35 in doubles (currently ranked No. 57) and winner of three ATP titles (Chengdu 2019, Montpellier 2020 and Buenos Aires 2021) and one ATP Cup (2020).

Djokovic and Cacic knew how to be a doubles partner only three times and all of them representing Serbia in team events. The first was in the 2021 ATP Cup with a defeat against Germany (Jan-Lennard Struff and Alexander Zverev) while the remaining two were in the 2022 Davis Cup against Germany again (lost against Tim Puetz and Kevin Krawietz) and Kazakhstan (victory against Andrey Golubev and Aleksandr Nedovyesov).

Throughout his career, the former world number one in singles has only won one doubles title and has a record of 62 wins and 77 losses. The only trophy he won was with Jonathan Erlich (Argentine nationalized Israeli, former No. 5 in doubles) at Queen’s 2010 when the event was in the 250 category.

In recent years, Djokovic has made some appearances in ATP tournaments in this modality, partnering with Vasek Pospisil. (Adelaide 1 in 2023), Jonathan Erlich (Tel Aviv in 2022), Filip Krajinovic (Paris Masters 1000 in 2021), Carlos Gomez-Herrera (Mallorca in 2021, finalists) and Marin Cilic (Dubai in 2020).

Surely his most remembered pairings in doubles are the ones he did with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Together with the Spaniard, he competed in the Toronto Masters 1000 in 2010, with a first-round defeat against Pospisil and Milos Raonic, while with the Swiss he did so during the 2018 Laver Cup, also with a negative result against Kevin Anderson and Jack Sock.
