Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic advanced to the quarter-finals of the US Open tennis tournament, “Flushing Meadows”, after defeating Croatian Borna Jogo 6/2, 7/5, 6/4 in the fourth round of the tournament.
Djokovic thus qualified for the 58th time to the quarter-finals in his record of participation in the four major “Grand Slam” tournaments, one time behind Roger Federer.
Djokovic, who is seeking his 24th Grand Slam title, needed two hours and 25 minutes to win the match against Borna Jojo.
Djokovic said after the match, in statements published by the British news agency “BA Media”: “I knew Borna would play a good match, as I saw him play well in the qualifying matches.”
He added, “I saw that his strong serve is among his weapons, and he also moves well, so stopping his serve was one of the main points for me.”
And Djokovic will meet in the quarter-finals on Tuesday, American Taylor Fritz, who qualified by defeating Swiss Stricker Dominic Stefan 7/6, 6/4, 6/4.
